Computer Report Systems specializes in custom computer programs which can be developed very rapidly using a powerful, multi-dimensional second generation Array Programming Language running on windows platforms utilizing unique customizable data bases. Recent clients include a Tier 1 automotive industry OEM manufacturer. In addition to maintaining total purchasing, production, inventory, shipping and billing requirements, the stand-alone program fulfills both ISO and QS quality requirements with EDI inputs and outputs along with all necessary internal and external paperwork, including automatic North American Free Trade documentation for outgoing shipments. The program can be used by regular factory personnel with a minimum amount of training. It has run bug free for years with no external maintenance. It was totally written and installed by Ed Pollock and fulfills most, if not all the critical requirements that can be provided by major enterprise systems, at a tiny fraction of their cost. Ed Pollock's data processing experience goes back to the days of punch cards, counter/sorters and tabulating machines. He has been programming computers since the early seventies, beginning on interactive time-sharing main-frame systems and moving into desk-top computers even before IBM introduced the 5150 PC in 1980. As more and more packages have become available, starting with the original word processors and spread sheets, the need for small custom programs has declined until today Computer Report Systems is more involved in consulting to advise, recommend and/or install off-the-shelf software which can do an even better job than custom programs, at a fraction of their cost. Although he is also involved in the other family businesses on this web site, Ed Pollock continues to provide consulting, software and custom programming for a number of clients, supported by firms and contacts developed during the thirty-plus years he has been connected to the computer world.
